Graphite

GRAPHITE FOR EDM PROCESSING

It is used in engineering for the production of working parts of molds (matrices and punches) on electroerosive piercing machines as electrodes, which repeat the profile of the required part. The principle of shaping is to break down the metal layer under the influence of a high voltage electric current passing through the graphite electrode and then removing the slag from the cutting zone. Created shape in the metal corresponds to the shape of the electrode tool.

This VDI comparison table will help you choose a suitable type of graphite:

HK-0 General Grade Application: Ideal for rough machining of large surface areas.

HK-1 General Grade Application: Ideal for rough machining of large surface areas, mold & die-casting tooling and also used for general finishing applications of large surface areas.

HK-15 Performance Grade Application: Ideal for general mould tool applications where low wear and high speed is required.

HK-2 High Performance Grade Application: Ideal for general mould tool applications where low wear and high definition surfaces are required.

HK-20 Performance Grade Application: Ideal for high quality finishing of high definition tools.

HK-75 Performance Grade Application: Ideal where high quality surface finishes and low edge wear are required for technical plastic mould dies and tools.

HK-3 Ultra High Precision Grade Application: Superior grade of graphite for ultra high definition, excellent adge wear resustamce and machining properties.

HK-6 Ultra High Precision Grade Application: Unique grade of ultra fine graphite, incorporating high strength, low wear characteristics and excellent properties for high quality surface finishing.
